Happy New Year Direct Sales People!!
First I am sorry I haven't been posting. There were holidays and I was sickly it was a whole thing. I hope everyone had a great holiday and you are ready to rock it.
I have recently been taking a look at the marketing strategy of most people in direct sales. It's hounding. I want to talk about something you might be doing and not thinking of. I'm going to ask you to stop, but of course you have your own free will to do what you want. This is a suggestion.
STOP JUST ADDING PEOPLE TO YOUR PARTIES
I get a notification and it says you have been added to the private event, Cassie's Fabulash Party. This is a pretend example but it happens. First of all I know you aren't looking at who you are adding because I sell Younique so I am not going to purchase from someone else's party. Second, the first time I am hearing about this party is when you ADD me. It isn't even a choice, I have the option to leave it, but being added without consent leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
You assumed I wanted to come to your event. You assumed I had the time and that day wasn't a day that something else was going on. An invitation is different. An invitation gives someone the chance to decide if they want to come.
So don't add someone assuming they want to come makes an ass out of the whole situation. I know that some of your uplines or your DS training might tell you to do that. Just don't.
Invite me! Don't add me!
Thanks for reading.

Don't Waste Money and Get in the Hole with Direct Sales
I know that it's a long title to a blog post, but this is something that is important to me. You have to know your budget always. I will give you an example of something that happens if you aren't careful, then we will talk prevention and doing things the right way.
You join the company your friend is so enthused about or that you have been researching.
The benefits of joining and the commission plan is amazing! You are super excited even though you must sign up for an autoship. That's okay you think, you'll sell enough you won't have to pay. Your sponsor tells you, you'll make enough to always get your autoship free just watch.
You try, but you just don't quite get there.
So you spent $100.00 to join
$75.00 on your first autoship of products
Now time has rolled around for your next autoship and that money is coming out. You didn't make the sales, but you just know you will this time. Maybe you buy samples to give someone, maybe you upgrade and get more products so you can sell them.
You are motivated, you've got this, and you miss it again.
That's $75.00 more dollars. You can see where I am going with this. You have to invest money to make money, it's just the way it is. You just need to make sure it is something you can afford to do. Pretty soon, it becomes too much, and you have wasted your time and money for nothing.
If you are smart about it, you research a company, how their autoships work, if they have them, etc. and then you look at what you could spend a month without any commission. Take making money from the company out of the equation. If you can't afford to join without selling more than your goal each month, then you need to reevaluate.
Sure, you might do fantastic and surpass your expectations. The fact is there are no guarantees and sometimes when you work really hard you still don't get the results you are working for. It is important that you make sure trying to join a direct sales company to make more money isn't actually going to put you in the hole. When it seems like a great idea at the time, it might not be the best fit for you.

What You're Doing Wrong with Your Direct Sales Business
SPAM
This is a word that people are familiar with, but don't actually always know what it looks like. This is especially true of people who are in direct sales. The definition of spam is irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent on the Internet to a large number of recipients or a canned meat product made mostly of ham.
First of all if it's mostly ham then what is the rest of it? I looked it up, it's chopped pork shoulder, ham meat, potato starch, sugar, salt, and water. Now you know and we can move on.
So here is what spam looks like to most people.
Hi I need you to click this link please (link) from a person who doesn't know you from Adam and might not even be acquainted with you on social media.
In reality that is spam, but so is this.
Hey, thanks for the friend request. I see you are in company A, my company is awesome too, I want you to join my team. Here's the link for you to check out.
This is spam whether you know the person or not, but especially when you have just either added them or they added you. NO! Just don't do that. People don't want to be sold after becoming your friend.
Talk to them about what they do, find out their interests. Say hi for crying out loud before you throw your business on them.
If you focus on relationships instead of trying to sell someone then you will come out ahead. The more friends and contacts you make, the more likely someone is to join your business or purchase from you.

The Truth About Consultant of the Month Groups
The first thing you might be asking yourself is, "What is a Consultant of the Month group?"
I'm glad you asked. It is a group on Facebook in which you purchase from other direct sales divas in order to get them to buy for you. That's it in a nutshell, there are several different types of them. You can find party groups, trains, comt and games, and much more.
I just started with my companies a little over a month and a half ago so I was blown away that this actually existed.
What did I do? I signed up for 3.
One is a group that you are placed into a group of 12 and each month 11 people buy from one person in their group of 12. The month that is yours you will get 11 sales. This is great in theory and you have to be willing to buy things you don't need. I now own Tupperware, origami owl, thirty one, and jamberry due to cotm groups. I have basically decided to use these groups as places to find Christmas presents for everyone.
I will have to do another post about trains because that's a whole other animal.
Look at it's little computer! ^^^ I get distracted easily.
So you are going to join a COTM group and you pay the person who referred you to get in. That is your initial purchase. You now will be in a group, and it will be time to buy from the first consultant. In my case that started in August. I bought from 3 different people to fulfill the groups I committed to. I recommend one, because this is going to go on every month now.
One group I am in is only 6 months so it's less of a commitment. You can also get sales from referring people to the group. This is something you can choose to do to boost your sales when you need it.
The groups are good ideas, and so far I haven't had a problem with them. I am going to work out a spreadsheet on what I have spent vs. what I have earned in commission. That will be where the real data is. I will get back to you about that after my months come up. I think one is October, one November, and one January!
Thanks for taking the time to read, if you have any questions about direct sales or how any of this works then you can comment below or find me on Facebook. Until next time!

Introduction to Direct Sales Princess - What's the Point?
Everyone is looking for that easy road to money. For the internet savvy it comes in the form of MLM marketing or Direct Sales. I had done the MLM thing without success so I thought I would try out the Direct Sales side of things. What I learned is there are a lot of companies out there. I found that people all were very passionate about their companies. I thought a blog following both my journey with DS and others would be a good way to keep up with the madness. I chose two companies out of the hundreds I was offered to join.
Younique
and
Seacret
I hope you will enjoy my attempt at the DS business as I balance it with a full time job, a part time job, grad school, and a writing career. Let's do this!

While I have a blog that will follow Younique and the makeup looks and reviews www.livelifegirly.com I also wanted a site that would follow the business side of Direct Sales and give everyone the truth about sales and recruiting.
