The Truth About Consultant of the Month Groups

The first thing you might be asking yourself is, "What is a Consultant of the Month group?"

I'm glad you asked. It is a group on Facebook in which you purchase from other direct sales divas in order to get them to buy for you. That's it in a nutshell, there are several different types of them. You can find party groups, trains, comt and games, and much more.

I just started with my companies a little over a month and a half ago so I was blown away that this actually existed.

What did I do? I signed up for 3.

One is a group that you are placed into a group of 12 and each month 11 people buy from one person in their group of 12. The month that is yours you will get 11 sales. This is great in theory and you have to be willing to buy things you don't need. I now own Tupperware, origami owl, thirty one, and jamberry due to cotm groups. I have basically decided to use these groups as places to find Christmas presents for everyone.

I will have to do another post about trains because that's a whole other animal.

Look at it's little computer! ^^^ I get distracted easily.

So you are going to join a COTM group and you pay the person who referred you to get in. That is your initial purchase. You now will be in a group, and it will be time to buy from the first consultant. In my case that started in August. I bought from 3 different people to fulfill the groups I committed to. I recommend one, because this is going to go on every month now.

One group I am in is only 6 months so it's less of a commitment. You can also get sales from referring people to the group. This is something you can choose to do to boost your sales when you need it.

The groups are good ideas, and so far I haven't had a problem with them. I am going to work out a spreadsheet on what I have spent vs. what I have earned in commission. That will be where the real data is. I will get back to you about that after my months come up. I think one is October, one November, and one January!

Thanks for taking the time to read, if you have any questions about direct sales or how any of this works then you can comment below or find me on Facebook. Until next time!

  3. Thanks for sharing! Not all COTM groups work the same. The one I'm in runs for 12 months, some groups have 6 people and in those you get 2 months to be the COTM and others have 4 members and in those groups you are the COTM 3 times a year. It's so much fun and I've even gained new members to my down line from people wanting to use that as their purchase from me that month. Score! Here's the one I'm in if you're interested in checking it out.

  8. I'm in one now and being my first one, I decided to start small. Its a 6 week commitment with everyone getting a week. The purchase per week was only $15. I thought at first that this wasn't a bad thing. BUT, you make the initial purchase, which for this one was $25. I got in a group, which was the $15 a week. I saw the other companies represented and I thought that I could find something from each of them. So the first week, I bought something for $18. The shipping was $9.50. So now I'm out $52.50 so far. The next week, I spent $14 and the shipping was $6.00. So by week 2 I'm out $71.50. Week 3, I placed a $22 order and the shipping was $5. So after week 3 I was out $98.50. Week 4 I placed a $16 dollar order. Shipping was $6.75. So after week 4, I was out $121.75. Now, this is where it gets interesting. Week 5 was my week. I thought yeah, this is going to be good. I got the following orders, $7.25, $3.25, $11, $10. So, if you do the math on those orders, I got $31.50 in orders. Of that, I get a 25% commission. So that means that I'll end up getting $7.88 in commission. Now, this week, I owe a $15 order to the last person in the group. Which with shipping will be at least $20. So as you can see, I LOST a lot of money from this. I have no clue if the others in the group had the same experience, but I will NOT ever do this again. I really wanted to ask them if everyone ordered that way with them because I know that I was meeting the requirements of the group. I don't know if this helps, just trying to show you what happened to me over the last 6 weeks.

  16. I have seen these and when someone doesn't make their purchase what can you do? One group has threaten to report people to their company for a compliance issue. Can you be cancelled from your company for this?
